ABOUT ME

QUALIFIED STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH

I am an ex international athlete who's competitive career was cut short due to injury at the age of 20. Now I have decided to dedicate my life to coaching and I am fully committed to helping people get into the shape of their lives which will help them reach their goals in both sport and life.

Coming from a high performance background I know what it takes to get results as both an athlete and coach, and I am willing to go above and beyond to make sure you get the results you want.

With a particular focus on strength training, I have a private studio space set up with top quality equipment, including Eleiko Competition Bumper Plates and Bar, creating the perfect high standard environment that's conducive to getting results.

I deliver my online coaching via an advanced training software which has everything you could possibly need from clear laid out session plans, personalised technique videos, nutrition tracker, feedback forms and more.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

  • 6 x British Champion

  • GB Junior and Senior Team Member

  • Multiple Time International

  • Tournament Winner and Medalist

  • European Cup Champion

  • Represented Team GB at European Youth Olympic Festival

MY TRAINING AND COACHING PHILOSOPHIES

I am all about how can we get the best results in the shortest amount of time and thats why I believe for the most part, the most effective way to train to is lower volume with high effort and intensity. None of my training plans involve spending 10 hours a week in the gym doing 20 different exercises a session. Less is quite often more with training and if you are doing excessive volume you will be limited in how much you can actually push yourself and effort will always be the most important factor. More can also equal more but only if the more is in the right place: more effort, more volume - when you can handle it, more planning, more focus on the variables outside the gym. Doing more training just for the sake of it is going to be counter productive.

THE MEANING BEHIND THE BRAND

THE NAME VOLANTE

My family has a long standing history in the gym. My Nonno (grandfather) was a school teacher and spent 60 years training in the gym and held British Records in Powerlifting and trained up until the day he died. My dad who was my first coach currently has around 45 years under his belt and has competed in both powerlifting and bodybuilding. He went down a totally different career path and has always been involved in business, so I feel like for me starting a coaching business where I help people couldn’t be a more of a natural fit that combines all parts of my heritage.

That passion for training has spread to my cousins too and being in the gym together has only strengthened our bond. Now it’s at the route of most arguments at Christmas dinner, so even more of a reason to use my family name for the business. Rest assured training and the gym is my true passion and I am in this game for life.

THE COLOURS

I didn’t chose black and white because it looks cool. I chose to make them the colours of my brand because in fitness there are so many things that are just black and white.

To get stronger you lift more weight, or you don’t

To lose weight you be in a calorie deficit, or you don’t

To become best version of yourself you either give 100% effort, or you don’t

There certainly are grey areas in training but most of your main principles and concepts are very much straight down the middle; yes or no, pass or fail, black or white. And just like my colours training should be kept as simple as possible and although there is a place for all the colourful fancy stuff, to get results your must nail the basics before anything else.

THE WORD 'STRENGTH'

Including fitness in the name is just to make it sound more obvious what I do: the key word is Strength. To me being able to deadlift 300KG doesn’t make you a strong person, although I will say it helps. To me being strong comes from your character, and the type of strong people I want to create are the ones who don’t shy away when things get hard, always turn up and give their all no matter what, and never give up.

What I take most pride in as a coach is seeing my team overcome their own personal battles, not just surrounding training but in life. Some of these are obvious and apparent, and some of them I know are being dealt with internally. If I can provide support and help them use training as an anchor to make an overall positive impact to their lives on top of the physical accomplishments and improvements they make, I have done my job.
